It was night time. I was inside an apartment building. Seemed to be quite a bit high. And for some reason, felt like it was one of those old French buildings with character. Tall ceilings and everything white. Not much furniture. It was a thunderstorm. And the floor to ceiling window was open. The sheer white curtain was just wailing in the air. Rainwater was getting inside the living room where I was. There was another person there, but I don't know who. Suddenly, I see small birds flying inside the room from the open window. A sparrow I believe and a few other ones. Different birds. Not all one species. And I call out the other person to help me clear them out. Then I go to the bedroom and I see the same thing there with the floor to ceiling window open and water coming inside from it. This time, I look on the floor right next to the window where most of the water is and I see tiny fish right on the edge of it sliding off the ledge. I wonder where they came from. But I don't have a clue.
Your dream seems rich with symbolic imagery, and each element contributes to an intricate tapestry of themes related to your emotions, experiences, and subconscious mind.
The apartment building, particularly described as an old French building with tall ceilings and character, may symbolize your own sense of identity or personal history. It suggests a space that holds significance – possibly representing your own memories or experiences. The nighttime setting often represents the unconscious mind, indicating that these feelings or memories are not fully illuminated or understood yet.
The thunderstorm and rain create a dramatic atmosphere and could symbolize emotional turbulence. Storms are often associated with upheaval, suggesting that there may be unresolved feelings or conflicts in your waking life. The open windows further amplify this theme, possibly indicating a vulnerability or openness to experiencing these emotions. Water can also represent cleansing, suggesting an opportunity for release or renewal amidst the chaos.
The floor-to-ceiling windows represent transparency and insight while also signaling a vulnerability to outside influences. The sheer white curtains fluttering violently might symbolize the fragility of your emotional state. The act of rainwater entering your personal space indicates that emotions are intruding upon your safe haven, perhaps representing feelings or situations in your life that you can't easily control or contain.
The birds entering indicate new thoughts, opportunities, or disruptions coming into your life. Birds often symbolize freedom or messages, and their presence points to a possible influx of ideas or emotions that have come crashing in unexpectedly, much like the storm. The fact that these are different species of birds suggests diversity in these new thoughts or emotional experiences, indicating a chaotic but potentially enriching mix of influences.
The presence of the unknown person may symbolize an aspect of yourself or an external influence that you’re reaching out to for help. This could signify your desire for support or collaboration in navigating through emotional turmoil or uncertainty.
Upon moving to the bedroom, a more private and intimate space, the open window here suggests that your most personal or vulnerable emotions are similarly exposed to outside influences. The tiny fish sliding off the ledge could symbolize new ideas or opportunities that are on the verge of slipping away from your grasp, or it could represent small aspects of yourself or your life that are vulnerable and in need of nurturing.
Overall, your dream reflects themes of vulnerability, emotional turbulence, and the interplay between freedom and chaos. It suggests that you might be navigating confusing emotions or situations that feel overwhelming. The call for help and the need to manage the situation implies a desire for control, understanding, or clarity in the face of these experiences. This dream invites you to reflect on areas of your life where you may feel inundated and encourages you to seek clarity, support, and potentially explore new perspectives, all while recognizing the value in the emotional storms that lead to growth and renewal.
